The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Regional Office 8 (BJMP RO8) has again stepped up to the challenge of environmental concern as its staff and personnel led by the Regional Director, J/ SSUPT. HERNAN GALLO GRANDE commenced their tree planting activity held last June 01, 2012 at a hill located at Brgy. Utap Tacloban City.
The said tree planting activity in line with the jail bureau’s clean and green drive was conducted during the Community Relations Service Month Celebration in response to lessen and or eradicate calamities to occur that destroyed thousands of lives and properties and easing the global warming occurrence in the four walls of the world. It is our firm belief, that, “saving our forests, is saving our lives”.
The said activity was participated in by the Jail Incident Management Course (JIMC) students together with other personnel from Tacloban City Jail Male and Female Dorm. The participants trekked the hill as early as 6:00H with their delta pants and combat shoes to plant 600 mahogany saplings. A representative from Department of Environment and Natural Resources was also present to provide guidance and assistance on the proper techniques of tree planting. The activity ended at about 11:30H with most of the participants tired out.
