“Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” “A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.” “The wonder is that we can see these trees and not wonder more.” True indeed that planting a tree saves the future, where few are the people who plant trees and that few are the people who care for mother earth.
The BJMP Regional Office 8 actively supports environmental advocacies intended to helping our environment heal from its gradual decay. Hence, it’s time to plant a mangrove at San Juan by the Bay, Brgy. San Juan, Sta. Rita, Samar conducted last 13 July 2018. The activity was spearheaded by J/SSUPT FELIXBERTO S JAGORIN JR, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau participated by regional office personnel. A total of two hundred (200) mangrove seedlings were planted purchased at Brgy. San Juan Women’ Association. It is commendable on their part that they combine business with environmental protection advocacies, hence making the bustle no hassle.
Many tree planting activities had we participated, but this one seem different. Mangrove planting was quiet challenging immersing yourself in a watery and muddy site. It’s fun submerging the seedlings levelling your expression with the water, similar to swimming while planting. San Juan by the Bay, is also famous for its floating restaurant and cottages, hence we took the chance of savoring set dishes satisfying our wanting bellies. Further, a surprised birthday bash of July celebrants was held completing the day worth celebrating.
